About Us

Alicia Serrano, known as Lily, has been in the textile industry since 1976. She attended Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, majoring in textile design, graduating in 1976. At age 24 she considered leaving the design industry, being concerned about her security and not being able to maintain her long term goal for her future. She was introduced to Murray Workman, of Textile Design in 1980. Murray had been in the woven industry for nearly 50 years representing mostly the mens woven industry. Upon joining Murray, Lily brought with her the expertise of prints, expanding the business to a more complete design resource library. In 1983, they became business partners. When Murray retired in 1993, Lily bought the business becoming sole owner, of now incorporated company Textile Creations by Lily.

Lily's love and passion for floral designs, the use of color and different techniques making each pattern beautiful and exceptional in their own way is the motivation she finds to build a successful company. Being surrounded by antique paintings, wallpapers, jacquards, vintage and contemporary fabric swatches has become the driving force for her company. Having the education, passion, experience, and confidence to go into business on her own, Textile Creations is now a complete design library studio of design inspirations from antique and vintage textile documents to contemporary European designs. Servicing the Fashion Industry; Mens, Womens, Children, and Home Furnishings, Bedding, Upholstery, Stationary and Quilt Market Industries. The collections in the library include: Fabric Prints, Paintings, Woven’s, Yarn Dyes, Jacquards, Wallpapers and Swatch Books. Whether traveling to far away countries or receiving boxes of treasures from dealers throughout the world, there is always something new and exciting being added to the collections. Antique documents range from 1830’s to 1970’s, from any style of florals to geometrics, conversationals, ethnics, damasks, jacobeans, toile’s, and many more.

Textile Creations by Lily has been exhibiting in the international Art and Design show, Surtex. This show is held in May of every year at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, since 1995. Giving the company the opportunity to meet new designers and exhibit along with other textile and vintage design studios. In 1998, Textile Creations began representing two European museums with textile archives: The Musee Du PapierPoint in Rixheim, France, a wallpaper museum and Musee De L Impression in Mulhouse, France, a textile Museum. Textile Creations by Lily is the only United States representative of both museums.

Lily's other passions and loves besides her business are her dogs. Currently Bo and Coffee are her two lovely Cocker-Spaniels. Like Maxi, Quijote, Claudia, and Shadow before them, Bo and Coffee are also rescues. Lily being Bo’s fourth and last home, has been due to her husband’s dedication and patience in taming down his aggressive behavior. Coffee came from a shelter, not being sure of the color of his now beautiful silky coat until his third bath. They fill her heart with great warmth and appreciation of her life’s successes and joys.
